This semi-professional club has been going since 1865, making it one of the oldest & most distinguished clubs in the country and as such it plays a huge part in our community.

This week we met with Elizabeth Fox - one of the club’s committee volunteers. Elizabeth is on a mission to make sure everyone in the community feels like they can be part of the club in some way.

Although there is a tiered membership system in place, non-members are also very welcome to attend matches and events, pop in to watch games on TV in the bar which has a fantastic atmosphere and hire the function rooms.

Otley RUFC’s bonfire night & firework display is legendary, but this year, Elizabeth will be introducing live music events to tie in with Otley Live, a summer Party on the Pitch, and a celebration of a 100 year strong relationship with Prince Henry’s.

Many local residents are curious about the progress of the East of Otley development and how this impacts the current club building. Elizabeth tells us that there are plans in place for an incredible new facility which brings club and training pitches to one location (just behind Stephen Smiths) but this is unlikely to happen for a few years yet!
